A traditional lion dance head faces forward against a thickly painted red and orange background, its shaggy red fur framing bulging eyes and a gold-studded crown. Curled fringes of fur ripple down like a mane, with small dark hooves or paws peeking out at the base.
The heavy brushwork and glowing warm palette give the whole image a festive, ceremonial heat.
